Clifton Observatory H&S and Disabled Access

VISITOR INFORMATION

Due to the location of Clifton Observatory, there is restricted access to the building.  There is no disabled access to the Observatory tower, cave or roof terrace due to the nature of the steep staircases and confined space. We do have access to a disabled toilet on site and offer access to our café through a specific entrance. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Please note that due to the structure of the Giant’s cave, we have a few restrictions in place for your safety. The steps leading down into the caves are very steep and are situated in a confined space to create an immersive cave experience.

If you suffer with claustrophobia or do not like tight spaces, we would advise against entering the caves.

Due to the lack of space and the steep staircase leading down to the Giant’s Cave, we are unfortunately unable to allow access to those who may need assistance from others through mobility aides or other. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope you still visit the Camera Obscura.

Children under 4 years old or that require a push chair or a carrier, are not permitted into the caves.

Please do respect these restrictions as they are there for your health and safety.

We would also recommend visiting the Camera Obscura on a dry and clear day to ensure maximum exposure.
